On top of that, there was a design choice made somewhere along the way that tossing you into fire-fights with a fodder of soldiers adds to the tension and atmosphere of the Dead Space series. Having Carver as your co-op ball and chain was the first strike. There is no chemistry, Carver’s character is predictable, somewhat of an annoyance, and boring. It’s bad enough our main protagonist of the series, Isaac Clarke, is still suffering from loss and mentally unstable and one could make the argument that Carver is the stable side that adds balance to the duo, but in the end, it was a botched effort. ![]() In Dead Space 3, you have now a generic, one-dimensional, military stereotype as a partner, Sergeant John Carver. The first and second entries of the Dead Space franchise focused solely on a single-player experience. Again, there is nothing wrong with wanting a game to offer co-op, the problem here lies more on how it was executed and applied. Now, the problems that do arise are found with three fundamental changes: adding co-operative play, a shift away from horror and more towards action, and the implementation of having universal ammunition. Granted, there was not any overhauls done compared to Dead Space 2, but the mechanics were solid enough. ” I’m sorry to tell you this Isaac, but there isn’t going to be a Dead Space 4. ![]()
